Hippopotamus

The hippopotamus is a large, barrel-shaped mammal known for its massive size. It spends much of its time submerged in rivers and lakes across Africa to keep cool. In water, it can hold its breath for several minutes to evade predators. On land, it lives in groups called pods and feeds mainly on grasses and vegetation. Its wide-open mouth display is used as a threat gesture, revealing large teeth and tusks. Often featured in zoos and wildlife parks, hippos are beloved for their comical appearance.
