Keycap emoji show the digits 0–9 and symbols such as “#” and “*” enclosed in a keyboard-like key. They are typically rendered as a square or circular button with raised edges, making them stand out from regular text characters. Users rely on them to highlight phone extensions, list items, rankings or votes where a numeral needs extra emphasis. Technically, most are created by combining the base character with the COMBINING ENCLOSING KEYCAP Unicode code point, or are offered as pre-composed emoji.
