The skin-tone sub-group consists of five color modifiers that can be appended to people or body-part emojis. Ranging from light to dark, they provide a spectrum that reflects the diversity of human complexions worldwide. When placed after a base emoji, they are joined by a zero-width joiner and render as a single glyph. Defined in Unicode using Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI, these modifiers enable more accurate and inclusive self-representation across platforms.
