Raccoon

The raccoon (Procyon lotor) is a small nocturnal mammal native to North America. Known for its high intelligence and dexterous front paws, it is capable of manipulating objects and opening containers. Raccoons are omnivores and feed on fruits, insects, fish, small mammals, and human scraps. They have a distinctive black mask across their eyes and a ringed tail. Adaptable to various habitats, they thrive in forests, wetlands, suburban and urban areas. In cities, they are often seen rummaging through trash and have become both beloved and problematic. Raccoons often live in small family groups and communicate with a range of vocalizations.
